2017-09-29 :

It looked like a hot day .. High of 27C .. so off we went to do the Lagrasse loop that we've done twice before!

.. But as we climbed into the hills on the Col de Taurize (500m), all we saw in the hilltops was fog and mist!

We peaked in a slight mist then descended rapidly with a bit of a chill in the air until we got into the Gorge de Alsou where the road was smooth and winding around interesting rock formations. Lots of fun! Lunch in Lagrass was great .. Marion had a hot chocolate to warm up!

The return route was also fabulous .. but a few more hills then we remembered ... and finally the sun came out just when we did not need it!

104km 980m ascent

Yes it's hilly here .. but not as bad as Osmand calculated at 2200m!

We finished with a beer in the square, bought some food and wine for dinner and all is well .. except that bottle of Montbazillac Blanc was so sweet we had to pour all 10 euros down the sink! Fortunately we also picked up a 5 euro Gaillac red that was fine. Anyone know how to tell if a white is going to be sweet in France?

Tomorrow? .. maybe another day off .. we should start tapering ...;)

Cheers
Harold and Marion
