Hi All,

What's the best way to spend your birthday? With friends cycling in the magnificent valleys of Sicily!

We left Castiglione looking for a good coffee .. and found it 20km later in Randazzo!

It seems everyone in Sicily was in Randazzo too as we quickly got stuck in a traffic jam! Our GPS route saved us and we left town on quiet but steep cobblestone roads!

The afternoon was a wonderful descent through a quiet valley before finally

turning on to the SS121 - a very quiet road winding up the valley walls to the town of Rigalbuto!

The last 10km was a challenge as the heat and sun settled in and we found our engines overheating! It seemed to help to slow down the cadence after a break in the shade. We finally arrived at Rocca die Saraceni .. a resort on the edge of town with magnificent views and probably a magnificent restaurant with magnificent prices! But it is my birthday and so I got to choose!
