Hi All,

It is hard work being a tourist!

We are on a small island called Ortigia which is the old centre of Siracusa in the Roman days.

Today we enjoyed sitting in front of the Duomo ( cathedral ) and watching the people in this huge open Piazza. We also enjoyed a walk through the old fort at the very southern tip of the island. Wandering the streets in this pedestrian friendly old town has also been interesting ... and such a change from being on the bike!

Tonight was our last dinner with Christian and Doug as they head off to Catania on separate adventures. Marion and I are off to Noto .. a short ride down the coast.

It has been fun sharing adventures with the guys .. but we are also looking forward to a simpler life on the road!

We are going to start modifying our original plans and keep closer to the coast with our panniers and plan day rides into the hills using the cooler mornings for climbing and afternoon descents to manage our engine temperatures! .. so stay tuned!
