Well let me tell you what we did today!
We walked over to the museum on the World War 2 Allied invasion of Sicily the summer of 1943.
It was quite the museum! They started by introducing us to a small city square then brought us in to a bomb shelter and simulated a bombing raid complete with sound, light and ground vibrations .. then they brought us out to see the decimated homes.
We then spent the next hour touring around the rest of the exhibits of all the combatants describing the impact the invasion had on many of the town's and cities we visited on our cycle tour.
At the end they had a special exibit of a famous American photographer Phil Stern who cut his teeth on his assignment in Sicily in 1943. Amazing pictures!
Packing bags tonight. Fly to Barcelona tomorrow afternoon.
Finished a really good book yesterday - 'Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Hurari. Alot to think about as he tries to give meaning to our species .. or not.
Cheers to all,
Harold and Marion
