Our climb out of Lescheraines up the col De leschaux was easy as it turned out and we opted for the ride around the lake to St Albertville and our b&b in Tournon. It was a good decision .. Very nice route!
Next day we cycled to St Jean De Marienne and checked into our apartment which is very nice and good location. The ride in was fabulous as we wound around the valley slowly (mostly!) climbing ...
There was a cycling race later in the afternoon doing a few loops around town then up to one of the cols .. Temperatures in the mid 80F (30+) and hot in the sun! Glad we were no it on the bikes at that point!
This morning we got up at a good time, ate some pain-raisin and had a good breakfast and headed off to do Col De Telegraphe and Galibier .. and could not believe the traffic we ran into on the climb! Everyone seems to be on vacation and heading home .. So we decided to call it quits at Telegraphs at 1570m .. we would not have enjoyed the next 1200m of climbing .. In this heat and traffic!
Stopped in town for a nice salad, beer and lunch and took it easy for the rest of the afternoon .. did we tell you it is hot here?
Tomorrow we are going to try col De la Croix Fer (iron cross I'm told .. ) .. we think it will be quieter up that way .. and it is directly out our door .. so we will get a good start before it gets hot!
By Tuesday the cold front is suppose to come through .. with rain .. so not sure if we will get much riding in here after tomorrow .. can only plan one day at a time!
Hope you like these pics! Cheers Harold and Marion
