We had a great route into Santa Fiora from Pienza yesterday. Lots of quiet roads, great views and some good climbs!
We arrived in Santa Fiora by 1:30, had a very good lunch and then "discovered" our short path down to the villa! Santa Fiora is at the apex of a steep ravine and the villa we have is 150m below the village .. quiet steep making a very interesting descent!
After we settled, in the owner offered to take some of us up to the grocery store in her car .. we jumped at the offer and loaded up with food!
The villa has a fabulous pool overlooking the valley opening below us and we are very happy with the accommodations.
It takes us about 10 minutes to walk our bikes up the steep Lane then we jump in an elevator to take us 3 more stories up to the centre of the village .. Which we did this morning and had a fabulous ride looping to the west. Lots of people cycling today as it is a Sunday .. also ran into a mountain bike event in the village as we left .. but I was too focused in figuring out our route to pause and take pictures!
We cycled 60km and climbed 1200m today .. quiet hilly but some fabulous views on the ups and great descents!
