After some cool days doing gorges in the Ardeche with a few very windy and cool days, we decided to head south!
... so today we climbed out of Valgore up to the Col de Mayrand at 1370m then made a sharp left turn across the plateau and down to La Bastide-Puylarent where we picked up a train .. and since all trains go to Nimes - vola we are in Nimes!
This morning the temperature must have been 8C as we ascended and then descended .. rising to 12C ... but by the time we got to Nimes we were sitting in a square in warm weather looking for shade underneath the palm trees!
There seems to be lots to see here .. so a couple of days at least as we plan our next segment and pick up some more maps! We think we will head to the Minervois region south of the Montagne Noir and north of midi canal!
It was a great day and now we are ready for dinner!
