I ( Harold ) turned 60 today .. and I immediately cashed in on my first benefit .. Discount on train tickets to Lavaur!
Lavaur is half way between Albi and Toulouse and we took the train this morning from Nimes to Villefrance on the midi canal and then cycled 47km (680m ascent) to Lavaur where we will stay for at least 3 nights and do some day rides in this rolling and very pretty country side!
Dinner in town was fabulous .. we both had duck .. Marion had the leg (confit de canard) and I had a breast (magret de canard) .. We were stuffed .. so passed on the dessert .. maybe tomorrow!
The ride here was pretty windy especially on the hill tops. We started cycling at 2pm in a bit of drizzle but we could see the rain was primarily to the south in the Pyrenees .. and as the ride progressed the weather improved and we arrived in sun shine!
We had a good visit in Nimes .. will attach some pics .. nice clean town but smaller than Avignon. We enjoyed the tour of the roman forum and seeing a film of the early history of Nimes. Saved some of the museums for another time ...
In 8 days we celebrate Marion's birthday .. I wonder where?
