Yesterday we stayed away from the Gorge and did a lovely ride similar to the day before .. we are still trying to figure out which one we liked best!
We visited the lovely hillside town of La Roque then some more winding roads skipping the Sabran hilltop but enjoying the towns of La Bastide and St Laurent .. in search of lunch! We finally found a great salad in Goudargues before our final leg into Salazac.
The day started with a light drizzle of rain but quickly lifted... still, a mostly cloudy and cool day. Great for pictures!
Today we road up the Gorge d'Ardeche and enjoyed some great sunshine with lots of picture stops. We could see rain showers over towards Vallon Pont d'Arc at the head of the Gorge .. but no worries until we arrived in town at the square ... then the winds picked up and the restaurant owners scrambled to secure glassware and canopies! We found a cafe and had coffee, tea and hot chocolate and waited out the rain. Sunshine returned 30 minutes later!
Our return route was to the south through Labastide de Virac and Aven d'Orgnac coming through the Col de Forestiere.
We've had some great days here and are glad we delayed the Gorge until most of the tourists left town .. Although we still saw many motorcyclists, campervans and cyclists mostly coming the other direction!
