The morning ride to Lagardelle Sur Leze started busy but became smooth and quiet. We enjoyed a coffee and sandwich and took pics of the church.
For the afternoon ride 'we' introduced a detour to avoid the busy D4. As we were cycling along I met this older gentleman on a bicycle and I asked him in my best French :" if we keet straight, could we cross the Garonne?" As suspected, he said "no - you have to turn left up the road and cross at Muzac". Then in English he said "good luck!"
When we turned left we found this perfectly straight road heading south with a steep climb! We peaked at 14% slope before a descent and then another steep climb! This time only 13%. Marion was not amused!
Finally we crossed the Garonne and found the quiet roads and pretty villages we had hoped for on the last leg into Rieumes!
We crossed three Rivers today : Ariege, Leze and Garonne.
We checked into the hotel at 1:30. Seems very nice. The restaurant was hopping and so we made reservations for dinner tonight. Marion let me pick the room .. ground floor, spacious with doors opening into garden .. perfect .. except Marion pointed out to me that the toilet is "without seat". Oops ..
We are here 4 nights .. riding looks great .. but maybe some rain one day.
