After a buffet dinner at our hotel and a very hot night with no AC and very little sleep, we left Belley and immediately found ourselves on the Velo Rhone bike path heading north!
We had a great time zooming along quiet paths waiving to other cyclists loaded with panniers like us with the Rhone on our left.
Finally we exited the paths around Motz, turned right at Seyssle on to the D17 and our big climb of the day. We ascended to 666m altitude on very quiet roads with wonderful views of le Massif des Bauges.
It was down, down to Valliers then the winding D14 into Annecy where we weaved on and off bike paths all the way to our hotel on the edge of the tourist district.
A walk out to the lake and a fabulous dinner with a Bordeaux wine in a quiet corner was the perfect end to the day!
We give the route 3 thumbs up and the day 5 stars! (A03-LakeAnnexy.gpx). Ascent 850m 75km.
