Last riding day in Saint Jean de Maurienne .. so we chose a ride up the valley to Saint Michel de Maurienne .. and wound our way up the north side of the valley opposite Col de Telegraphe.
Very scenic and lots of small villages and not a soul around .. then BAM .. we turned a corner and there were 2 dozen cars parked along the road side! It was a hiking event .. competition of some sort! We waived and continued 3 more km to the top .. then had lunch all by ourselves!
A descent full of twists and turns to Saint Michel de Maurienne .. then a headwind back down the valley home.
It was a great ride!
About 45km and 850m ascent.
As you can see Marion appears to be fully recovered and volunteered to do Italian tonight!
Tomorrow we take the train to Romans sur l'Isere where we just booked an Airbnb for 7 days. Flatter riding? We shall see!
