After a very nice breakfast at our a Chambre d'Hote, we struck out for the Cathedral de Notre Dame. In the mid 1800s they did major restoration work .. and the exterior of the church is amazing! Reminds me of the churches in Siena!
Inside we had an intimate tour of the small chapel featuring a 3 panel painting above the alter. Lots of symbolism with the number 12!
Next was the Musee Anne de Beaujeu. For 3E we had a great time looking at Egyptian mummies, sculptures from the 1800s by Jean de Chartres (for the Dukes) and finally lots of paintings by Desboutin (pre-impressionism) and others. They had to kick us out at closing time (lunch).
After lunch it was the Centre National du Costume and a large exhibit from Operas over the last century. Also, a very good film of Rudolf Nureyev.
.. oh yes, then we encountered a field of cows.
Tomorrow a short ride to Sancoins.
Cheers
