2012-10-21 : Malaga and home

Friday afternoon we arrived in Malaga and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the city is once you get east of the river and into the old section of town. There are lots of interesting malls and plazas aswell as the well developed water front and beach area. We have spent the last two days here enjoying the art galleries and cafes and waterfront.

This is probably our last post and I suppose you are interested in our impressions of Spain and cycling here!

The drivers for the most part have been very friendly almost as friendly as in Virginia! Yes they get a bit more aggressive as you get closer to Seville!

The roads for the most part have been great although it is not always easy finding a good quiet route from one town or city to the next!

There are alot of olive groves here and once you have seen 10 you have seen them all!

Google map is right when it says 70km has 2200m of ascent in the mountains here! Average speed for the day was often 15km per hour or less especially if the road was rough (50% of the time).

We had some fabulous rides on quiet roads with great views!

The towns and cities were bigger than we were use to visiting in France but for the most we were able to fine easy quiet routes onto the cities.

The people were very friendly and the culture we observed around the town squares was very interesting and great to see.

We slowly adapted to the tapas menu and quiet enjoyed the food!

We saw some fabulous churches and stunning vistas on our rides!

Yes we would say that Spain is a great place to visit and we are glad we checked it out. It was a great trip!

Many thanks for all our comments!

Cheers!
Harold and Marion
