Today started with a drizzle of rain followed by a great breakfast at the local bakery .. then the sun came out and we decided it was the day to climb .. Smugglers Notch!
Our route took us the quiet route to Johnson along the river then north to avoid the busy #15 and over a warm-up hill to Centerville and Hyde Park.
Busy traffic into Stowe with construction then a nice lunch before the climb .. road paving - but that actually helped as we had the good side!
Over the top and down to Jeffersonville and voila we found ourselves sitting on the porch with a beer!
The only tough part was 17% grades through 4 switchbacks at the top! 20% if you had to hug the edge of the road due to a few cars ... which was Marion's fate!
We actually had less ascent today at 1250m (yesterday was 1530m)!
A great day and now we earned our dinner!
Cheers
Harold and Marion
