2019-10-11 : West of Tournus - and a climb!

Today was the day! Sun all day and a 93km ride into the hills! I'm such a lucky man to have Marion just as keen as I!

The climb to Brancion - a medieval village - was great! We peaked at 400m and then descended to the Col de Brancion at 354m and then in to town. No time for a tour of the Chateau .. but the hilltop Eglise was interesting!

Then it was down down down into the valley that the Grosne river flows through. This is a beautiful valley with an excellent  bicycle path along an old rail bed. We took this into Cluny - very nice town! You could easily spend more time here touring the Abbaye and exploring the town.

Then it was a U-TURN back along the bicycle path to Chateau Cormatin and some back roads around the mountain through St. Forgeuil, La Chapelle, Laheue and a few unwanted hills before we finally crossed the expressway and came into Tournus along the Voie Bleue from the north.

Tonight was food from the charcuterie .. no pics .. sorry Jane!

More sun tomorrow ..

Cheers!
Harold and Marion
