We've been rather busy exploring routes to the west and south of here .. and socializing ... and celebrating a birthday! (Harold's)!
We've done really well picking off all the best roads and loops in the area and tomorrow we are doing our last ride in the region (figure8 loop on our favorite roads) before heading south Sunday to San Benedetto for some beach time .. and sea food!
Yesterday, friends of Tom and Rosemarie came to visit for dinner and stayed the night as we had extra beds. We had fun getting to know Juliet and Alistair!
Then today Harold, Marion and Doug went off on a 89km loop to San Ginesio which is a high hill top village one valley removed from the mountains. The views all day were fabulous and well worth a few 16% grades into the town at 600m elevation. We had marvelous descents for most of the afternoon as we coasted back to home at 230m elevation! Total ascent 1750m. It was a great day to celebrate a 61st birthday!
Tomorrow is ofcourse Saturday and it appears that Monte San Giusto is having some sort of celebration as there are decorations hung everywhere in town! It will be interesting to see what they are up to!
