Made it to this beach town yesterday!

We had a choice of the busy flat route along the coast or up and over three ridges .. we took the ridge route! It turned out to be a pretty good route with only one steep ascent which we walked up.

We ran into a mountain bike race and chased some of the contenders up a less steep hill with our panier loads which was fun .. Could not get them to say much to us .. They were focused on their race I guess and wonder where the heck we came from!

The last drop off the ridge put us in a quiet valley road that was flat and we really motored along until we hit the coast and beach. Very quiet beach in fact and such a contrast to the roads to the beach a week ago!

Today we plan on hugging the beach until we make a sharp turn up into the hills to Atri where we plan on spending a few days at a B&B.

We say goodbye to Doug today as he winds down and gets ready to make his way to Rome and meet Judy!
